Artist Statement

All cultures around the world have distinctive customs of dress and adornment. Of particular interest to me is African Tribal customs and traditions.  Their  traditional dress is fading from use in cities as they adopt more Western -style attire.

However, many Africans still wear traditional clothing and decoration for special occasions and as a form of self-expression.

As an African American mother of four daughters, grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of three, my love of African culture is expressed  through my artwork.
